Description

This course provides training for senior staff with responsibilities for managing privacy compliance, such as a Privacy Officer or a division manager.

It provides users with an in-depth knowledge of an organisation's privacy obligations in regard to the handling of personal information under the Commonwealth Privacy Act's thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), how to apply the requirements in practice, how to manage privacy risks and how to maintain a privacy compliance framework.

The course maximises learner engagement through interactive elements balanced with high-quality training content. Real-life case studies and quizzes are used to demonstrate and reinforce how obligations apply in practical scenarios.

Users receive a Participant Handbook (90 pages) containing all course materials which is suitable for subsequent use as a privacy reference handbook.

The course is updated annually to remain current with laws, cases and Commissioner guidelines.

Author

The course is authored by Jeremy Douglas-Stewart, a specialist privacy lawyer at Privacy Law Consulting Australia. Jeremy was a member of the Privacy Commissioner's Consultative Group during her review of the Privacy Act in 2004/05 and of the Australian Law Reform Commission's Privacy Principles Roundtable in 2007. Jeremy has been delivering privacy training workshops since 2007 and is author of the Australian Privacy Law Handbook loose-leaf subscription service for lawyers.

Duration
